Ocean Colony real estate is just 1.5 miles south of downtown Half Moon Bay. The only gated community on the coastside. Development of the original golf course and the first homes started around 1974. Since that time over 500 single family homes and townhomes have been constructed on this choice real estate situated around two award-winning 18-hole championship golf courses overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The Ocean Colony is definitely prime coastside real estate.

Real estate value has climbed precipitously. The original Ocean Colony townhomes were selling in the $65,000 range and the single family homes were in the $150,000 to $200,000 range. The most recent new housing is the "Spyglass" development overlooking the Ritz Carlton Hotel. These latest homes were priced in the $1.3 to $3.5 million price range.

Within the past few years the new (2nd) golf course, "the links course," was constructed along with a new club house to service both golf courses. The Ritz Carlton Hotel was also constructed during this same time, as well as the refurbishment of the tennis and swim club, another improvement to the real estate property value.

The Ocean Colony complex is considered to be the premier neighborhood and golfing resort on the coastside between San Francisco and Santa Cruz.

As a part of the City of Half Moon Bay, "the colony" has obtained the reputation of being "the place to be" on the coastside. The reputation of this oceanside real estate has spread to the far reaches of the "jet set" world due in part to the marketing being done by the Ritz Carlton and the Half Moon Bay Chamber of Commerce. To live in Ocean Colony is to be a part of "the place to be."
